Gloria V. Grasselli, age 80, of The Inn at Northwood Village at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Friday, May 27, 2016 following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Eugene and Opal (Fry) Johnson, Gloria was born at Dover, Ohio on June 17, 1935. She was a 1954 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and married the love of her life, Santi Marion Grasselli on December 8, 1955.
Gloria was employed by Snyder Manufacturing and Bobby Brooks Clothing Store before joining the staff of the former New Philadelphia Moose Lodge, where she worked for more than 25 years, and retired from New Towne Mall after 15 years of service. For more than 20 years, Gloria worked for the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections.
Known for her kind hearted personality, Gloria loved being around others. She also deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, sewing, walking and swimming at the YMCA.
She will be greatly missed by a son, Eugene “Yogi” (Brenda) Grasselli of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Santi M. (fiancé Kassie Underwood) Grasselli of Uhrichsville, Nicole (Anthony) Grasselli- Geissinger of Bolivar, and Troy Huff of Uhrichsville; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hannah, Jace and Ryker Grasselli, Kyleigh and Alaina Gribben, Eden Geissinger and Lauren Huff.
Completing the family are numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; an aunt, Anna Mae Lahm of Dover and a special care giver, Marcia Labus as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Santi with whom she shared 58 years of marriage prior to his passing on May 29, 2014.
The family will greet guests on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 5-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service celebrating Gloria’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the service, a meal and fellowship will be shared in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
