Gloria L. Schumacher, 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia with her husband at her side.
Born October 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Eugene A. and Florence Irene (Strickmaker) Ramel.
After completing her formal education at Tuscarawas-Warwick High School, she married her lifelong companion, Richard Schumacher, on April 19, 1947. Together, they were members of Sharon Moravian Church. Gloria also enjoyed vacationing in Florida with her friends and relatives.
Although she was extremely proud of her children, Gloria took great pride in her granddaughter, Stacy R. She greatly enjoyed watching her participate in a variety of activities including tap dance competitions, Indian Princess touring, cheerleading, and college tennis matches at Capital University.
Gloria had many notable sayings including: “If you are not going to do something right, do not do it at all”.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her family including her husband Richard of New Philadelphia; her son, Rick Schumacher of New Philadelphia; her daughter, Christine “Chris” (Edgar) DelaCruz of Dover; her granddaughter, Stacy Ramel S. (Damian, MD) DelaCruz Bedoya, E.d.d. of Woodstock, Georgia; her brother, Charles E. Ramel of Venice, Florida; her step-sister, Pauline Tinor of New Philadelphia; and her great-granddaughter, Alexandra Sofia Bedoya born Friday, March 7, 2014.
A private graveside service will be held in Dover Burial Park.
