Glenn Korns

June 16, 1929 — April 28, 2014

Glenn Korns, age 84, of New Philadlephia, died early Monday, April 28, 2014, in his residence surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Daniel and Mary Jane (Espenschied) Korns, Glenn was born at Barnhill on June 16, 1929.

He attended the former Midvale School and for 30 years was employed by the City of New Philadelphia where he worked for the Water Department and Street Department.

Following his retirement, Glenn enjoyed watching professional wrestling on television, working on wood projects, making birdfeeders and loved keeping them filled so he could enjoy the birds as they came to feed. He also loved the time spent with his canine companion, Cutie.

He is survived by his wife, Arleen; his children, Robert L. (Julie) Korns of Bowerston, Richard (Dawn) Korns of Dover, and Barbara (Richard) Wilson of Bolivar; five grandchildren, Heather (Sean) Delsing of Iowa, Trevor (Rachel) Korns of Michigan, Terry, Travis, and Trenton and three great-grandchildren.

Completing the family are two sisters, Virginia Lawrence of New Philadelphia, Gay Jenkins of Dover; a sister-in-law, Catherine McWilliam of New Philadelphia; two brothers-in-law, Leonard (Barbara) McPherson of Strasburg, and Tom (companion, Wanda) Richards of Wooster and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a sister, Kathrine Murry and three brothers, Jack, Raymond, and Jerry Korns.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Glenn’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in Glenn’s name may be directed to Crossroads Hospice, 3743Boettler Oaks Drive, Green, Ohio 44685.
