Glenn Wingeier, 89, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday July 27, 2004 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.Glenn was born July, 18, 1915 to the late Walter and Maude (Lower) Wingeier and graduated from Baltic High School. He was a WWII Army Veteran, was retired from the Warner-Swasey Co. after 30 years of service, member of the New Philadelphia First United Church of Christ, life member of the American Legion Post 494 at Sugarcreek, life member F & A. M. Lodge 177 of New Philadelphia, life member Scottish Rite of Canton, and had formerly served on the board of directors for the Dover-New Philadelphia Credit Union for 24 years.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Rippl) whom he married May 21, 1939; and a sister, Helen Wingeier.Survivors include a son, Donald E. Wingeier of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Doris Gardner and Arlene Miller both of Sugarcreek; a grandson, Brett Wingeier of Alameda, CA., and other relatives and special friends.Funeral Services will be held Saturday July 31, 2004, 10:30AM, at the First United Church of Christ, New Philadelphia with Rev. Jeffrey Gerber, and Jill Lovett officiating. Visiting hours will be Friday, 6PM to 8PM, at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory, and from 9:30AM to 10:30 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be at East Avenue Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sugarcreek American Legion Post 494. Masonic Services are scheduled for Friday evening. A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the committal. Those who wish may visit an online memorial to Glenn by visiting the funeral home’s website.
