Glenn A. Bible, age 91, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully late Monday evening, October 25, 2010, following a period of declining health.A son of the late Adam H. Bible and Elnora Randles Bible, Glenn was born at Coshocton, Ohio on October 28, 1918.Glenn graduated from Coshocton High School and entered into the United States Army having served in World War II and Korea and at the time of discharge had held the rank of Staff Sergeant.For 42 years, Glenn was employed by the Ohio Power Company at New Philadelphia as a customer service representative.He was a member of the Coshocton Lodge of the F. & A.M., The New Philadelphia B.P.O. Elks Lodge #510, the Carl C. Stoller Post #1445 of the New Philadelphia VFW and the American Legion. Glenn was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia for over 50 years.Glenn enjoyed being out of doors, walking daily, going on hunting and fishing trips and also enjoying a good round of golf. As part of his outdoor activities, he also ensured that his yard was in meticulous order. He was also very talented with power tools and made sure that each home remodel he was involved with was completed with fine craftsmanship.Glenn was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes.Glenn will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years, the former Frances A. Clark whom he married on July 19, 1941, and two children, Richard (Pat) Bible of New Philadelphia and Cheryl (Randy) Simers of Bolivar.Five grandchildren, Jenny (Paul) Bantum, Todd Bible, Heather (Adam) Steinmetz, G.A. (Ellie) Wentz, and Darin Wentz and six great-grandchildren also survive.In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Ward Bible and two sisters, Norma Parks and Lela Norris.The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Sunday, October 31, 2010, from 2 to 3 PM in the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey will lead a memorial service celebrating Glenn’s life at 3PM in the church sanctuary. Military honors rendered by the New Philadelphia VFW Post will immediately follow.Following services the family would like to invite guests to join them in the church social hall where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.Memorial contributions in Glenn’s name may be directed to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive Suite E Uniontown, Ohio 44685, The First United Methodist Church, 201 West High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
