Glenda Prillwitz, age 77, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, November 25, 2013 while in the care of Community Hospice House, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A daughter of the late Carl and Erma (Mathias) Stephan, Glenda was born at New Philadelphia on May 17, 1936.

She was a 1954 graduate of New Philadelphia and briefly worked for Joy Manufacturing prior to relocating to California. While there, she worked for Stouffer Foods and operated her own small business in which she made specialty chocolates and candies. Glenda also enjoyed being a volunteer for the Police Auxiliary for the Visalia Police Department.

Among her many passions in life, Glenda looked forward to attending auctions and going on shopping trips as well as traveling throughout the United States, Europe and taking riverboat cruises. Above all, she loved going out to eat with her family.

Glenda is survived by three children, Greg (Marta) Weaver of North Carolina, Tammy Weaver, and Doug (Kirsten) Valentine of California; her siblings, Donald Stephan, Dean (Sue) Stephan, Steve Stephan, and Carol (Jim) Watson all of New Philadelphia and her best friend, Donna Rybolt of Visalia, California.

Completing the family are 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 30 years, Kenneth Prillwitz; two sisters, Pauline Dinger and Joy Morris; a brother, Wayne Stephan; and two sisters-in-law, Ginny Stephan and Belva Stephan.

The family will receive guests one hour prior to a memorial service on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead Glenda’s Celebration of Life service at 10:30 AM. Following the service, all are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Private burial was held in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
