Glen R. “Bob” Wilson, 74, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, August 15, 2014 in his home following a lengthy illness.
A son of the late John Gill and the late Lena Loretta (Wilson) Vincent, Glen was born February 25, 1940 at Murray City, Ohio.
Glen graduated from Tuscarawas Valley High School in 1958. He then enlisted with the United States Army serving a tour of duty in Ethiopia. He was a long time employee of the Timken Company, retiring after 35 years of service, and was a member of the United Steel Workers. Following retirement he enjoyed transporting cars for Shook Auto. He enjoyed dining out, especially at Michael’s Restaurant and playing cards. Glen was also an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Ellwood) Wilson, whom he married on August 10, 2012; two children, James R. Wilson and Della (Mark) Burrell both of New Philadelphia; two stepdaughters, Gwendolyn (Chad) Sundheimer of New Philadelphia and Amy (Brad) Ohman of Canton; three grandsons, Garren Smith, Robert “Bobby” Wilson and Blake Burrell; a great granddaughter, Alveya Smith and a brother, Fred Vincent and his wife Pete of Athens, Ohio.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Cremation will follow calling hours and a memorial service will be held in Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Duane Quesenberry officiating. Inurnment will follow in Dover Burial Park with the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 rendering military honors. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center.
