Glen W. Fisher

GLEN W. FISHER, 88, died Tuesday evening, April 29, 2003 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. A native of New Philadelphia, he was born to the late Clyde V. and Kathryn Reif Fisher on September 7, 1914. Glen shared 63 wonderful years with his wife, the former Connie M. Massarelli, whom he married in Sacred Heart Church on July 3, 1937. During World War II, Glen served honorably with the U. S. Army. He retired after many years with the Union Camp Chemical Co. in Dover. The couple belonged to Sacred Heart Church and its senior citizens group. Both Glen and Connie had served as president and trustee of the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens as well. In December 2000, his wife Connie died. Glen was a skilled oil painter and woodworker having built clocks. A couple of his train paintings were purchased by and are displayed in the Warther Museum in Dover. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Todd) Baker of New Philadelphia and Marlene (Donald) Thomas of Souderton, PA; one son, Gary A. (Michele) Fisher of Mineral City; a sister, Virginia Mileti of Camarillo, CA; three grandchildren, John (Jody) Thomas, Robert (Jami) Thomas and Michelle Wynne; and six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, two sisters, Thelma Weaver and Florence Massarelli as well as two brothers, Dale and Harlan Fisher, preceded Glen in death. Calling hours will be in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Friday, May 2, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Protestant prayer service with Rev. Javier Acosta at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Msgr. George J. Schlegel in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow alongside his wife Connie at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. It has been suggested that contributions be made to Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third St., NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P. O. Box 182039, Dept. O13, Columbus, OH 43218-2039.
