Gladys M. Harrison

Gladys M. Harrison, 88, of Massillon, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family, on July 6, 2024, following a period of declining health.

Born January 14, 1936, in her beloved hometown of Stone Creek, Gladys was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Bontrager) Haver. In her youth, Gladys attended the former Stone Creek High School before embarking on a journey that would see her blossom in her life. She found joy in simple pleasures like crafting and going square dancing, showcasing her creativity and vibrant spirit.

A homemaker and former Owner and Operator of Growing Like-a-Weed Clothing Store, Gladys was a beacon of warmth and kindness, known for her welcoming nature that touched the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her family and pursuing her passion of owning a business through her clothing store.

One of Gladys's proudest accomplishments was her long-standing commitment as a "Foster Grandparent," where she selflessly volunteered her time and love to children in need. Her nurturing presence left an indelible mark on those she cared for and inspired all who witnessed her unwavering compassion.

She is survived by her daughter, Zora Toj of Massillon; two granddaughters, Becky Sinden of Massillon and Susan Sinden of Ocala, Florida; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Pauline (Norm) Lantzer and her brother, Paul Haver, both of New Philadelphia. Gladys will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her son, Larry Harrison, a grandson, Ricky Sinden; a granddaughter Bridgett Sinden-Harding, a sister and three brothers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 beginning at 10 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will be alongside her parents in Stone Creek Cemetery at Stone Creek.
