Gladys E. Barbee

Gladys E. Barbee, 79, of New Philadelphia passed away March 1, 2018 in Union Hospital at Dover.

Born in Dennison on August 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Murray) Brown. After graduating from Uhrichsville High School, Gladys worked in several positions, most notably as the in-store manager at Monroe Mall for Endres Floral.

On June 20, 1959, Gladys married the late Harold F. Barbee. Together they were blessed with the birth of three sons and a daughter. Gladys later enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and always enjoyed cooking.

She is survived by her sons, Harold (Karen) Barbee, Jr., Patrick Barbee, and Darryl Barbee, all of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Alisha King, Joshua, Dylan, and Brennen Barbee, Brianne and Brody Barbee, Justin and Haley Hutchison, and Kevin Caldwell; 14 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Charles (Sue) Brown, Jean Coulter, and Carolyn Hollingsworth.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Hutchison; and her brother, Raymond Brown, Jr.

A service celebrating Gladys’ life will be held Monday March 5, 2018 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover beginning at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service in Dover Burial Park.
