Gladys Chatt, age 94 of Colonial Manor at New Philadelphia died Thursday, January 10, 2008.One of six children, Gladys was born on May 28, 1913 at Candlestick, Kentucky to the late Benjamin and Mary Rattiffi Haney.In 1929, Gladys married Kelly Chatt and together the couple reared three children.During healthier times, Gladys enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Starlight Workshop and could be found attending church services on the weekends. She was an avid reader of all types of books but, especially enjoyed reading the Bible.Gladys was a longtime resident of Colonial Manor and will be sadly missed by her roommate Sandy Basiletti as well as the entire staff of the facility, who share memories of her love for desserts and sweets but most importantly chocolates.Gladys leaves behind a daughter, Mrs. Irene (Richard) Garabrandt of Gnadenhutten; three surviving grandchildren, Mrs. Glenda (John) Conway, Mr. Michael (Mary) Garabrandt and Mr. Richard Garabrandt. Fifteen great grandchildren and twenty two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and former husband, Gladys is preceded in death by a sister, Callie Miller; and four brothers, Robert Haney, Charles Haney, Johnny Haney, and Joe Haney. A son, Roy Chatt; and a daughter, Reventa Chatt as well as two grandchildren, Roy Garabrandt and Vera Selway also precede Gladys in death.Care for Gladys has been entrusted to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
