Ginger Swaim

May 26, 1939 — December 24, 2017

Ginger Swaim, 78, of Uhrichsville died early December 24, 2017 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover while in the care of Community Hospice following a period of declining health.

Born at Wheeling, West Virginia on May 26, 1939, Ginger was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Uveges) Delbert.

She was a graduate of Dover High School and on January 14, 1961 married Richard Goff. The couple shared in 19 years of marriage prior to his passing in October of 1980. On December 29, 1983, she married Louis Swaim and the couple celebrated 26 years of marriage before his death on May 7, 2010.

For many years Ginger was a waitress at the former Bassetti’s, Pro’s Table and Giuseppe’s Restaurants. Through the years she had a following of loyal customers who became lifelong friends. Ginger was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, loved Elvis, and flower gardening. She also loved caring for her cats and keeping the bird feeders around her home well stocked.

She will be deeply missed by her companion Artie Jones of Uhrichsville who has been a rock and a wonderful caregiver and has remained steadfast and at her side through her illness. She also leaves behind her loving family, daughter, Karen (Vincent) Santaniello of Uhrichsville; and an “adopted” daughter, Betty (Ralph) Grasselli of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Michelle (Mindy) Cook and Michael (Holly) Jones all of New Philadelphia and 10 great-grandchildren.

Completing the family are two sisters, Jolene Limbacher of North Canton and Marcy (Reuben) Mullett of Dundee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents and her first and second husband, Ginger is preceded in death by a grandson, Edward Jones.

The family will greet guests on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Cremation will follow and a private graveside service will be held in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia at a later date.
