Gertrude A. Bell, age 92, of Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 01, 2011, following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Clarence and Amy Andregg Tedrick, Gertrude was born at Perry Township, Ohio on June 4, 1918.She was a 1935 graduate of the former Uhrichsville High School and later married Edwin Bell on August 16, 1941, at Westchester, Ohio. The couple reared two children and celebrated 55 years of marriage prior to Ed’s passing on December 3, 1996.In her younger years, Gertrude enjoyed fishing and soon took to caring for her family. She found great joy in cooking, baking, gardening, and canning. In her spare time, she liked working with her hands as she quilted, sewed and crocheted. During the summer months, she enjoyed bird watching and driving along the country roads where she often took time to admire the wildflowers.Additionally, Gertrude was a long time member of the First Church of the Brethren at New Philadelphia and appreciated being a supporter of the church activities. Above all, Gertrude loved looking after her family and spending time with each of them.She leaves behind two sons; David (Michelle) Bell of Findlay, Ohio and Donald (Marsha) Bell of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Boone; two brothers, Frank Tedrick and Fred Tedrick.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 08, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. â?? 12:45 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A graveside service, led by Pastor Max Canfield will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the service the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Family Life Center of the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia where a meal and fellowship will be shared. Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.Memorial contributions in Gertrude’s name may be directed to First Church of the Brethren, 700 Fair Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
