Gerald Hilton, 81, of Strasburg, died Sunday evening, April 7, 2002 at Union Hospital in Dover following a brief illness. Jerry was born February 14, 1921 at New Athens, OH to the late Floyd A. and Emma E. Able Hilton. During World War II, he served honorably with the U. S. Army Air Force in Panama as a radar operator for the signal aircraft warning battalion. In the service, Jerry also proudly served as mess hall sergeant and remained an avid cook. From 1963 until he retired in 1983, Jerry worked as an installer for Shook’s Siding in Massillon. His sense of humor and cooking skills will be missed by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by his wife, Margie I. Johnson Hilton, whom he married April 27, 1946; daughters Carol (James) Baker of Strasburg and Cheryl (Eric) Leach of Canton; son, James Gregory (Nancy) Hilton of Hampton, VA; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Rex Hilton in 1995, a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Dorothy Jones. Private services will be held.
