Georgianne Zontini, age 85, of New Philadelphia, died early Friday, February 11, 2022, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center while under the care of Community Hospice.
Born in Roswell, Ohio on April 17, 1936, Georgianne was one of 12 children born to the late Elmer and Lillian Cusano Decker.
She was a 1955 graduate of the former Midvale High School and on April 7, 1956, she married Robert S. Zontini. Together the couple had three children and shared in 58 years of marriage prior to his passing on June 1, 2014.
Georgianne was a longtime member of the former St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Midvale and later Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. She was a 30 plus year employee of the Timken Roller Bearing Company at New Philadelphia where she worked as an inspector. Georgianne had a great love for cooking, baking, caring for others, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Bob (Pam) Zontini and Roland (Lori) Zontini all of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Alex (fiancé, Chris Butash), Maddie (David) White, D.J. (April) Zontini, Haley Zontini, Nicci Zontini, and Ashley (Todd) Hattie, and her great-grandchildren, James Butash, Lily and Reah White, Wyatt and Quinn Zontini, and Benjamin and Gianna Hattie.
Completing the family are her siblings, Freda, Delores “Tootsie”, Rose, Terry, and Cathy, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam (Barb) Zontini and Rosalie (Bob) Sciarini as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Georgianne was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Sue Zontini, and siblings, Ralph, Sonny, Bobby, David, Eileen, and Judy.
In keeping with Georgianne’s wishes there will be no public services. Private inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia will take place at a later date.
