Georgia Miller, age 87 of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Christmas Morning, December 25, 2005 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, where she resided since 2003. Born at West Lafayette, Ohio, October 11, 1918, she was one of eleven children born to the late George Armstrong Barcus and his wife Lydia Belle Allison Barcus. Georgia was a homemaker for most of her life. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with family. Georgia was a gifted musician, singer, dancer and sewer. She was a former member of the Sweet Adeline Chorus. In addition to being the family seamstress, Georgia enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching embroidery work, quilting and other needlework. Surviving in her local family are her four daughters and two sons; Charlotte (Kenneth) Reigle, Barbara (Gerald) Burkhart, all of New Philadelphia, Ida M. (Jody) Bolon of Tuscarawas, Jim Miller and his fiancé Deb Wires, Donald (Jessica) Miller and Susan (Thom) Mohr all of New Philadelphia. She’ll be sadly missed by eleven grandchildren; Deni, Kenny, Matthew, Jeremy, Melissa, Rex and Kaylee, Kathy, Ken, Karen and Kris eight great-grandchildren; Tayja, Brooke, Breanna, Madison, Nicholas, Kaden, Zachery and Logan as well as six step-great grandchildren. A sister, Evelyn McMurray of Dover, completes the family. In addition to her parents, four sisters, a brother, and four infant siblings precede her in death. Friends are invited to call Wednesday, December 28 from 5 until 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Georgia’s niece, Pastor Sara Chadwell will lead funeral services Thursday morning at 10 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
