George D. Beans, age 79, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover.A son of the late George H. and Martha “Dolly” Albaugh Beans, he was born February 16, 1926, in the family home in Goshen Twp. He married the former Ruby Walker in the Roxford United Methodist Church on May 4, 1947. They would be celebrating their 58th anniversary today. He also attended Holmes United Methodist Church.After completing his education at Midvale High School, he worked for Marlite in Dover, Ohio as a machinist. He retired after 27 years of service to pursue his hobbies.George loved the outdoors, and was especially fond of hunting and fishing with preferences for coon hunting and bass fishing. He was a member of the Tuscarawas County Coon Hunters Association, and enjoyed fishing at Rice Lake in Canada where he and Ruby had traveled and vacationed for the past 37 years. His love for the outdoors also was seen in his gardening, a hobby he took great pride in doing. The fruits of his labor were lavished on his friends, giving most of the harvest away. He also dabbled as a wine maker with Dandelion wine being his favorite.In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Ron (Cindy) Beans of Dover; one daughter, Karen (David) Stone of St. Simons Island, Georgia; two grand children, Adam Beans and Erin Beans both of Dover; three brothers, Robert (Phyllis) Beans and Roy (Mary Ellen) Beans, both of New Philadelphia, and John Beans of Mineral City; and two sisters, Evelyn Bichsel of New Philadelphia, and Flora Jackson of Naples Fla.Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Services will be Friday in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the Geib Family Center following the committal service where a luncheon will be held.Memorial contributions to honor George’s life may be made to the Cleveland Site Center for the research of Retinitis Pigmentosa, 1909 East 101st St. Cleveland, OH 44109.
