Genevieve Marguerite Vaughan

July 18, 1917 — March 9, 2002

Genevieve M. Vaughan, 84, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness.Born in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Geiler Marshall. She was a secretary of the former Earl E. Smith Company in New Philadelphia, a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia and a member of the former St Paul’s Church in Midvale.Her husband, Joseph R. Vaughan, preceded her in death on August 23, 2001. Surviving are five daughters, Jeannie (David) DiDonato of Gnadenhutten, Katherine (Tim) Ellwood of New Philadelphia, Maureen (Gary) Hess of Quincey, Illinois, Rita (Robert) Miller of Dover and Annette Vaughan of Tucson, Arizona; eight sons, Dan (Marcia) Vaughan of Dover, David Vaughan of Dover, Jim (Jean) Vaughan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, John (Joyce) Vaughan of Cape Coral, Florida, Mark (Jennifer) Vaughan of Roswell, Michael (Kathy) Vaughan of Dover, Patrick (Donna) Vaughan of Cuyahoga Falls and Tom (Brenda) Vaughan of New Philadelphia; thirty seven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and her longtime caregiver, Alice Sica of New Philadelphia. A son, Joseph T. “Joey” Vaughan, a sister and three brothers are deceased.A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2002 from 5 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:45 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663 or Sacred Heart School, 320 Fair Avenue NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663.
