Gene L. “Casey” Casebeer, 74, New Philadelphia, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 7, 2004.He was born in Oldtown Valley on April 22, 1930, a son of the late Russell L. and Ruth E. (Balley) Casebeer.A clay worker, he was employed by several companies, retiring in l974 from Superior Clay.A member of the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Tippecanoe, Casey was the type of man who would drop everything to help a family member or friend. He delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed gardening, raising his pet cows, and finding gingseng root.Casey will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, the former Dessie Tidrick; three daughters, Cathy Gadfield of Canton, Vickie (Ed) King of Dennison, and Candy (Wayne) Donaldson of North Carolina; son, Terry (Brenda) Casebeer of Massillon; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Twila (Dave) Hildreth; several nieces and nephews, and many, many neighbors and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Stalnaker; and a brother, Warren Dale Casebeer.Visitation will be Friday, December 10, 2004 at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Hugh B. Berry on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Following the committal, a reception will be held at the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
