Gena Karl

Gena Karl, 66, of New Philadelphia went to be with the Lord peacefully in home Saturday evening, March 29, 2003.Born July 23, 1936 in Tuscarawas, O. Gena was a daughter of the late Marco & Lena Bonzi Comignaghi of Wainwright, O. A 1954 graduate of Tuscarawas High School, Gena was employed with Zimmer Patient Care prior to her retirement February 26, 1999.On October 27, 1956, she married Robert L. Karl; together the couple enjoyed 47 wonderful life-filled years. Gena will be long remembered as a loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother, who was devoted to spending time with her family, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Gena was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she also was a member of the Alter Society. In addition to reading, traveling, walking, and watching baseball games Gena enjoyed playing cards with her life-long friends of the Wainwright Canasta Club. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; Robert A. (Donna) Karl, Mark (Rhonda) Karl, Douglas (Leslie) Karl, all of New Philadelphia, and Timothy (Kim) Karl of Columbus, O. She will be sadly missed by eight grandchildren; Dustin Robert, Ashley, Dustin Richard, Jennifer, Makenzie, Amanda, Michael, and Brandon, as well as four sisters; Anna (John) Decker of Tuscarawas, Lena (Richard) Stellarini of Canton, O, Helen, (Dan) Guspyt of Port Washington, O, and Stella Campbell of Uhrichsville, three brothers, Robert (Vie) Comignaghi of Bloomingdale, GA, John (Judy) Comignaghi of Wainwright and Jack Bonzi of Tuscarawas as well as twenty-seven nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, a brother, Louis Comignaghi, preceded her in death.Friends may call at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Tuesday April 1, 2003 anytime after 2 PM with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where a Christian wake service will begin at 7:30 followed by a resuscitation of the Rosary. Msgr. George J. Schlegel will celebrate a funeral mass Wednesday April 2, 2003 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a meal will be served in St. Ambrose Hall, adjacent to the church sanctuary.
