Gary T. Walton

Gary T. Walton, age 80, of Uhrichsville and formerly of New Philadelphia died unexpectedly, Thursday, October 23, 2014 in his residence.

A son of the late Clarence and Marie (Wagner) Walton, Gary was born at New Philadelphia on November 14, 1933.

He attended New Philadelphia High School and at an early age began working for East Sparta Ceramic. For more than 40 years he was employed by the firm and retired in 1996 when the plant closed. For two years following, Gary worked for CMA at Bolivar and officially retired in 1998.

Gary was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians; he enjoyed fishing, socializing with his friends at the Uhrichsville Moose and working on cars.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Rebecca Shuman, whom he married on July 5, 1989, his children, Cindy Wolfe of New Philadelphia and Scott (Karen) Walton of Wapakoneta; his granddaughter, Heather Rosenberry of Oregon; step-daughters, Violet Howell of Midvale and Kasey (Josh) Garabrandt of Roswell; and five step-grandchildren, Gabe Roberts, Pammy Roberts, Gracey Herron, Maddox Howell, and RaeAnn Haring.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Alex Walton; and his first wife, Francis J. Walton.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place with burial to be conducted in the Dover Burial Park at a later date.
