Gary Maple, 76, of New Philadelphia, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, November 25, 2016 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A son of the late Wilber and Wilda Maple, Gary was born, February 24, 1940 at Carrollton, Ohio.
Gary worked at Carroll Moving and Transfer, Puskarich Mining, and retired from Greer Steel. He also served his country for three years in the United States Marine Corps. In his spare time, he enjoyed karate, crossword puzzles, softball, music, playing cards and watching TV. Gary’s biggest joy in life was his family, especially his three daughters, of whom he was extremely proud. He also loved spending time with is grandkids.
Gary is survived by his three daughters, Robin (Wade) Rector of Carrollton, Ohio, Amy (Josh) Glenn of Columbus, Ohio and Crystal Davis of Belpre, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Bryan Wright, Chad and Cody Rector, Nate, Gabe, and Drew Glenn, Jordan Koons and Dominic Zrinyi; two great-grand kids, Noah Petrime and Alex Wright; three sisters, Mary Lou McClelland, Patty Smith and Karen (Bob)White, all of Carrollton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Rick Linard and loving friend, Carol Lemasters, who provided unconditional friendship.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Rita (Linard) Maple, whom he married April 21, 1962; his sister, Beverly Dunlap and his brother, Charles “Buddy” Maple.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 11 to 1 pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Gary’s life will follow visitation at 1 pm in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Tom Klaserner officiating. A private burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery with military honors.
