Gary E. Wilhelm, 71, of Strasburg, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.
Born September 6, 1947 in Dayton, he was the son of the late Everette and Wanda Jett Wilhelm. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy and had formerly co-owned and operated Allied Restaurant Services in Mansfield.
Gary was a member and Elder of Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia where he sang in the church choir and had also attended numerous “Promise Keepers” conventions. Gary had also formerly taught classes in HVAC and Refrigeration for the Greene County Career Center in Xenia.
Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Lee Wilhelm and is survived by his second wife Judith A. Wilhelm whom he married September 25, 2010. Also surviving are two daughters, Lori (Brian) Luman of Xenia and Kelli (David) Wagner of Massillon; two step-daughters, Stephanie (Bill) Glazer and Laurie Fulller; a step-son, Jeffrey (Erin) Fuller; seven grandsons, Brady Wagner, Todd, Tyler and Casey Fuller, Steven (Beth) Baumgardner, Nivlek and MiKeilive Lewis and two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Jay) Johnson and Elodie Blanc; two sisters, Vicki Pemberton and her companion, Harlan Clemons and Margie (John) Wysocki and two brothers, Pastor Melvin (Pat) Wilhelm and Michael Wilhelm.
A funeral service celebrating Gary’s life will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2 PM in Jerusalem Church at New Philadelphia with Rev. Dr. Tom Hendershot officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Church Cemetery where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
The family requests that memorial contributions in Gary’s memory be made to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stone Creek Road SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
