Garrett Ripley

Garrett Ripley, 78, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a long period of declining health.

A son of the late Max C. and Viola E. (Davis) Ripley, Garrett was born at Dover, Ohio on September 12, 1934.

He graduated from New Philadelphia High School and served in the United States Army, primarily in the Finance Office in West Germany. Garrett was employed at Gradall Industries Inc., formerly known as Warner & Swasey for 35 years.

Garrett married the former Marsha J. Noretto on December 7, 1957 and the couple was blessed with two children.

His passion in life was riding motorcycles and he spent many happy hours riding, racing, attending races and traveling.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Mike Rhinehart; a grandson, Jarrett D. Maher of Dover; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Noretto of Austin, Texas and four nephews.

Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Valerie Jo and a sister, Mona Lou.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Garrett’s life will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
