Garnet V. Huff

Garnet V. Huff, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 02, 2009 in Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia.A son of the late William and Helen (Neighbor) Huff, Garnet was born at home in New Philadelphia on April 2, 1923.He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1941. Garnet then went to work in the steel industry and he retired from Reeves Steel in 1983 after 44 years of service.Garnet was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445, the New Philadelphia Eagles Lodge # 2251 and the Steelworkers Local #2737.He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Applegarth) Huff, with whom he would have shared 64 years of marriage with on March 3, 2009; five children, Richard Huff and Diane (Dan) Caldwell both of New Philadelphia, James Huff of Midvale, Debbie Fox of Uhrichsville and Terry Huff of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Rob (Melissa) Huff, Danielle Caldwell, Jaime (Steve) Stentz, Ryan Huff, Joshua, Thad and Falishia Fox, Troy, Mick, Jarret, Ronnie Lonnie Melissa, Timmy, Sherri and Jason Huff and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.Garnet is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas and Tim Huff and a grandson, Brent Caldwell.In keeping with Garnet’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
