Garnet M. Russell

GARNET M. RUSSELL, who celebrated her 99th birthday on June 8, died peacefully on Sunday evening, July 13, 2003 at Park Village in Dover. She was born in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late John and Vallie L. Starr Seckman. On June 9, 1923, the day following her 19th birthday, she married Albert J. Russell in Lisbon, OH. He died unexpectedly in 1958. Mrs. Russell had been a resident of New Philadelphia since 1991. She had previously been a resident of Dennison since the early 1940’s and East Liverpool prior to that. She enjoyed playing cards and preparing her Sunday family dinners. Everyone who knew her remembered her smiling face. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Alberta as an infant, and Rose Marie Albaugh in 1991; a sister, Hazel Virtue and a brother, Charles Seckman. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Otto; grandchildren, Sandra Garbrandt, Barbara (Tom) Frohnapfel, and Ronald Otto, all of New Philadelphia; Debra (Steve) Dowdle of Carrollton and Jeanie (Gary) Maser of Inverness, FL; great-grandchildren, Ronald (Hallie) Garbrandt, Krista (Jeremy) Lindon, Douglas DeLong, Angie (Drew) Lippencott, Michelle (Adam) Reynolds and Jamie Kinsey; great-great-grandchildren, Logan Armstrong, Griffin Garbrandt, Adina Lippencott, Blaize Kinsey and Kailee Garbrandt. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2003 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home where the funeral will be conducted on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
