Garland G. Monroe, Sr., 83, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Park Village Health Care at Dover while surrounded by his loved ones.
A son of the late Gay Monroe and the late Peggy (Jarvis) Berry, Garland was born May 31, 1932 at Spencer, West Virginia.
Garland was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He enjoyed listening to Bob Dylan, fast cars and motorcycles.
He is survived by his children, Shelia Monroe of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lola (Bruce) Wright of Dundee, Garland (Jamie) Monroe Jr., Linda (Kit Allen) Monroe of Port Washington, Randy (Annette) Monroe of New Philadelphia and Melinda Monroe of Columbus; his grandchildren, Garland Ethan, Hannah, Julian and Maximus Monroe, Jessica Boylan, Autumn Schenker and Bradley Schilling, Brittany and Jeremy Regula, Robert and Ryan Raper and Chelsea Roth; two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Thadeus Schenker and the love of his life, Evelyn Monroe.
In keeping with Garland’s wishes calling hours will be private and interment will take place in Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, Ohio.
