Fredrick L. “Fred” Stephon, 72, of Dover, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at his home with his family at his side, following a brief illness.A son of the late Harold F and Erma Gonter Stephon, Fred was born December 23, 1932 in Stone Creek, o., he married Doris Brown on May 19th, 1954 at the Jerusalem Church in Stone Creek. He truly was her sweetie. He was a 1950 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He worked for the former Joy Manufacturing Company in New Phila. for 18 years as a fan assemblyman.Although he enjoyed his work with metal and fans, his true love was woodworking. He spent countless hours in his woodworking shop building what ever the family wanted, from cradles to trash cans, and made a lot of saw dust doing it. Fred was also an avid hunter and enjoyed attending gun shows.In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard Stephon of New Phila.; two daughters, Kathy (John) Heid of New Phila. and Sue (Shawn) Bower of Chillicothe, O.; six grandchildren, Joe (Julie) Stephon, Jim (Angie) Stephon, Kristy (Jason) Froman, Jessica Mc Cray, all of New Philadelphia, and Mindy and Stacey Bower of Chillicothe, O.; five great-grandchildren, Chase and Chelsa Froman, Kyle and Austin Stephon, and Katelynn McCray, all of New Philadelphia, and finally his beloved faithful dog, Ginger.In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two infant sisters and his step-mother, Cora Miller Stephon.Visitation will be Tuesday October 4, 2005 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 North Wooster Ave. Dover; O. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Geib Funeral Center in Dover. with the Rev. David Dahlstein and the Rev. Nathan Derico officiating. Burial will be at Dover Burial Park .A reception will be held in the hospitality room at the Geib Funeral Center in Dover following the committal.Memorial contributions honoring Fred’s life may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, Ohio, 44622.
