Frederick Carl Rausch, 67, of Midvale, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Frederick Dean and Shirley Jean (Page) Rausch, Fred was born February 2, 1950 at Dennison, Ohio.
Fred graduated from Indian Valley North High School in 1968. Then, on December 16, 1969, he entered the United States Air Force. Fred honorably served his country while being stationed in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Biloxi, Mississippi until receiving his discharge on May 7, 1976.
Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Fred spent a few years working as an Ohio State Patrol Officer. He ultimately retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier.
Fred attended Roxford United Methodist Church and was an avid golfer. Most of all he enjoyed traveling and cherished the vacations with his wife, Sherry, following his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Fox) Rausch whom he married on September 5, 1970; his children and their spouses, Stephanie and Mark Velleca of New Philadelphia and Derrick and Erin Rausch of Uhrichsville; his grandchildren, Caleb (Tiffany) Velleca and Leah Velleca both of New Philadelphia and McKenna and Dane Rausch both of Uhrichsville and a sister, Peggy (Todd) Bonvechio of Brightwood.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Fred’s life will follow in the funeral home at 6 p.m. with Rev. Ron Heasley officiating.
