Frederick Dean Rausch

July 11, 1926 — June 8, 2016

Frederick Dean Rausch, 89, of Lions Manor at Tuscarawas, died Wednesday, June 08, 2016, following a period of declining health while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

Born in the family home at Tuscarawas on July 11, 1926, Dean, as he was known to all, was a son of the late Carl and Leah Richman Rausch.

Dean was a graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and enlisted into the United States Navy in 1944. He proudly served his country during World War II aboard the USS John Land, a transport ship assigned to the South Pacific.

Following his honorable discharge in 1946, Dean returned to the Tuscarawas Valley and married the former Shirley Jean Page in 1947. Together the couple raised two children and shared in more than 45 years of marriage prior to her passing on April 29, 1994.

For 19 years, Dean was in charge of Production Control at the former Alsco at Gnadenhutten before joining General Tire at Newcomerstown, where he worked in plastics extrusion and retired following 20 years of service with the firm.

Quarter and Thoroughbred Horses were two of Dean’s greatest passions in life. He was also a fan of various types of music and loved dancing. He attended Roxford United Methodist Church, was a member of the Tuscarawas VFW; and most of all loved spending time with his family and his friends at Lions Manor.

Dean leaves behind two children, Peggy (Todd) Bonvechio of Gnadenhutten and Fred C. (Sherry) Rausch of Midvale; grandchildren, Natalie Bonvechio-Stephen of Dover, John Zachary Bonvechio of Greenbelt, MD, Stephanie (Mark) Velleca of New Philadelphia, and Derrick (Erin) Rausch of Uhrichsville; and great-grandchildren, Molly and Mason Stephen, Caleb (Tiffany) Velleca, Leah Velleca, McKenna and Dane Rausch.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dean was preceded in death by twin infant sisters, Myrna and Myra Rausch.

In keeping with Dean’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dean may be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
