On June 12, 2024, Fred Theodore Pixler, III of New Philadelphia age 64 and 8 months went home to be with his heavenly Father following a short illness.
Born on October the 5, 1959, in Union Hospital at Dover to his loving parents. The late Fred Pixler, Jr and Lillian Sue Pauli Pixler.
Fred graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1978 and continued his education at Kent State University. He honorably served our country in the United States Army from September 14, 1981 until March 15, 1985.
Fred volunteered for mobile meals for 10 years, and was a member of the Schoenbrunn Valley Barbershop Chorus since 2012. He was a nature lover who enjoyed feeding the deer and birds in his backyard. Fred became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville, Arkansas where he was baptized and later moved back to the New Philadelphia Ward where he was a faithful member for over 41 years.
On October 6, 2017, Fred married the love of his life, Julia Rose Steinebrey Pixler and have enjoyed the past six years and 8 months together. Also surviving are his brother, John (Cinda) Pixler; a nephew, Todd; two step-children, Dolly Alsept and Jacob Yoder; his former wife, Katherine Dawn Johnson; his two favorite aunts and uncles, John and Janice Pauli and Mary and Eric Piper.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his grandparents.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. An additional hour of visitation will take place on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 10 – 11 AM in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 421 Stratton Avenue Ext, SW, New Philadelphia where Bishop Tom McKnight will lead Fred’s funeral service at 11 AM. Burial, with military honors, will take place in the Union Hill Cemetery on Monday at 2 PM.
The family wishes to thank Lifecare Hospice and the staff of the Truman House for all their kind, compassionate care.
