Frederick D. Kinsey, age 69, of Gnadenhutten died suddenly on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.Born on the family farm on January 30, 1939 at Gnadenhutten, Fred was one of seven children born to the late Dean and Helen (Ulrich) Kinsey.Fred was a 1956 graduate of Gnadenhutten High School and a member of Fry’s Valley Moravian Church. On October 19, 1963, Fred married the former Ruby Flinner and this coming October the couple would have celebrated 45 years of marriage.Fred was passionate about his work ethic. He was an extremely hard worker and for more than 34 years was an employee of the Timken Roller Bearing Company at New Philadelphia. Following his retirement he turned a hobby into a full time job by managing his 200 acre farm in the Gnadenhutten area. Fred was an extremely resourceful man who loved to put any physical object to use. He considered his love for tinkering as being thrifty; but he truly was of the mindset that it was important to live off the land.Living off the land is what Fred loved best. Following winters of shelling hickory nuts he could not wait for spring planting season to arrive as he would immediately begin to prepare his garden and fields for another productive harvest. In addition to his work ethic, Fred was very meticulous in his workmanship and passed both of those traits along to his children as he taught them his way of tending to life on the farm.Following his retirement, Fred enjoyed life with his wife Ruby as they took up dancing and challenging each other on a daily basis with the Cryptoquip published in the newspaper.Fred was especially fond of his four grandsons and enjoyed their company and took pleasure in teaching them about the importance of a hard work ethic and sharing his vast knowledge of nearly any subject matter with them.Additionally, Fred could rarely be found around the farm without his companion and best friend, his Collie, Laddy. In addition to his wife, Ruby, he is survived by his three daughters and their families; Cathy (John) Wood of Cincinnati, Ohio, Connie (Reverend David) Bennett of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Ann (Brian) Rentsch of New Philadelphia; and a brother, Don Kinsey of New Philadelphia. He will be missed by his four grandsons, Brennan and Brett Rentsch of New Philadelphia and Clayton and Henry Wood of Cincinnati, who complete the family. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2008, from 4:00 â?? 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Patricia Honszer will lead a 10:00 AM committal service in the Fry’s Valley Moravian Church Cemetery on Saturday. At noon a Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of the New Philadelphia funeral home and immediately following services the family would like to invite guests to join them for a luncheon in the Geib Family Center adjacent to the funeral home.At the family’s request, donations in Fred’s name may be made to Gnadenhutten-Clay Fire Department, Box 129, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629 or to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
