Franklin “Frank” B. Fuerst, 74, of New Philadelphia, passed away October 8, 2017 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover on January 28, 1943, he was the son of the late Franklin and Murial (Sluhan) Fuerst. After graduating from New Philadelphia High School, Frank honorably served his country in the United States Army. Upon discharge he returned to the Tuscarawas Valley and was the well-known owner and operator of Fuerst Decorating and Fuerst Color Center in New Philadelphia.
Frank always took great pride in his work ethic and customer service. He could always be counted on to go the extra mile.
He also had a passion for being outdoors, whether it was tending to his flowers, fishing, or hunting. Frank loved watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed trips to their spring training camp in Florida. He had a knack for telling jokes; he enjoyed making people laugh. Frank loved his pet dogs and spent countless hours playing Frisbee or just hanging out with them.
On June 28, 1969, Frank married his lifelong companion, the former Vicki L. Paris. Together, they were members of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. Frank is also survived by his siblings, Barb Cox of Beachwood and Dean (Barb) Fuerst of Pennsylvania; and will be deeply missed by his mother-in-law, Cecilia Paris of Dover; his sisters-in-law, Pam (Craig) Beller of Dover, Yvonne Reed of New Philadelphia and Kim (Mike) Maurer of Dover; his brothers-in-law, Ed (Ginny) Paris of Dover and Paul Lunsford of New Philadelphia; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, including Melissa, Tawnya, Victor, Natalie, Carl, Alex and Matt all of whom he had such fantastic memories of time spent with them while they were growing up.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in passing by his sister-in-law, Kay Lunsford, his father-in-law, Victor Paris and a brother-in-law, Dean Cox.
