Frank Fischio

Frank Charles Fischio, 89, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, January 22, 2018 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Sabatino and Angelina (Marchone) Fischio, Frank was born September 2, 1928 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Frank was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus at New Philadelphia, a life member of V.F.W. Post #160 at Glen Burnie, Maryland and a member of the New Philadelphia American Legion. Frank retired from Miracle Adhesive Corp in 1994 after 41 ½ years of service.

Frank was a 1946 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1946 to 1949 and again during the Korean War from 1950 to 1951. Frank served aboard the U.S.S. Pine Island on the U.S. Naval Antarctica Expedition “Operation Highjump” of 1946-1947. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, China Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal of Japan and the American Defense Medal.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pearl (Bixler) Fischio; his children, Danny (Myong) Fischio of Severn, Maryland; Richard (Lorraine) Fischio of Wapakoneta, Ohio; William (Jean) Fischio of Wauseon, Ohio, Shari Fischio of Dover and David Frank (Dana) Fischio of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Holly (Gary) Graham, Jessica (Scott) Mione and Nick Fischio; his great-grandchildren, Portia, Shea and Eva Graham and Damian and Alyssa Mione; and his siblings, Erma, Jim and Helen.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Amico, Josephine, Claira, Pat and Mary.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Frank’s life will follow in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
