Francis Lewis Lunsford

Francis “Frank” L. Lunsford, age 77, of Bolivar and formerly of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in the Cleveland Clinic at Cleveland following a lengthy illness.Frank was born in Adena, Ohio on August 14, 1933, and was a 1953 graduate of Adena High School. For the next 20 years, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from which he retired in 1973. He served in a number of locations around the world and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. In his free time, Frank enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his well-manicured lawn, and volunteering with local law enforcement agencies. He was a life-long Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and enjoyed spending time with family and pets. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia “Pat” (Glass) Lunsford, whom he married on November 29, 1957; a sister, Margaret Blakely of Dover; four children, Pam Justice of Massillon, Paul Lunsford of New Philadelphia, Pauline (Mark) Fenton of Dayton, and Dale Lunsford, PhD of Gulfport, Mississippi. Also surviving are his mother-in- law, Helen Glass; grandchildren, Tiffany Justice, John “JJ” Justice, Kiersten (Chad) Rowland, Devon Fenton, and Brian (Mandy) Pachin; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sallie Lunsford, Bob and Barb Glass, and Donna and Dick Humenick; a former son-in-law, John Justice as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Preceding him in death are his parents, James and Lillian Shores Lunsford; his father-in-law, Sherman Glass; siblings, Dorothy Sayre and James M. Lunsford; brother-in-law, Charles Blakely; a daughter-in-law, Kay (Paris) Lunsford. The family will receive guests on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 10:00 â?? 11:00 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Frank Fenton will lead a funeral service celebrating Mr. Lunsford’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial, with military honors in the Evergreen Burial Park will follow. Following services, the family will return to the Geib Funeral Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Contributions in Frank’s name may be directed to Community Hospice, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
