Frances Joan “Fran” Walton, 90, of Dover, died Monday, February 20, 2023 following a period of declining health.
Born in Shanesville on April 10, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward Allen Schindler and Della Irene (Bailey) Thompson.
Fran was a member of the Elks bowling and golf teams and was an avid card player. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, always available if anyone needed her.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Nancy) Alleshouse of New Philadelphia, Kim (Wendy) Alleshouse of Sandyille, Colleen (John) Cua and Janet (Dave) Beach both of North Carolina; grandchildren, Nicholas (Cara) Alleshouse, Lisa (Mike) Steer, Tiffani (Eric) Wolfe, Meagan (Bob) John, Anthony, Timothy and Tyler Alleshouse, Kelly Cua, Shelly (Melvin) Barnes and Heather (Tim) Allen; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Laubscher of Pennsylvania; and nieces, Patricia (Mick) Marshall, Gloria McQuaid, Connie Park, and Mary Hibbard.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Delbert D. “Del” Walton on November 15, 2017; her first husband, Walter E. Alleshouse; her daughter, Sherry Pearch who passed away in 2013; and her brother-in-law, Robert Laubscher.
A memorial service will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the service, a meal will be shared in the funeral home’s hospitality room. Inurnment will be held at a later date at East Lawn Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
