Frances Pearl Bailey

Frances Pearl Bailey, age 89, of Country Club Retirement Center, and a former resident of Dover, New Philadelphia, and Newcomerstown, died Friday in Union Hospital at Dover. Born June 21, 1917, at New Philadelphia, Frances was a daughter of the late Walter Frances Rummell and Etta Mae LeMasters Rummell. Frances attended school at Dover, and ultimately graduated from Midvale High School as her class valedictorian in 1936. Later that same year, she enrolled in the Farnsworth Teaching Hospital at Delaware where she completed Nurses training in 1939. A gifted caregiver, Frances was affiliated with Union Hospital accumulating thirty years of service upon her retirement in 1979. Frances was happiest when caring for others. Whether tending to the needs of patients in the hospital, or rendering aid to her close friends and family, her tender heart and warm spirit provided relief to those in her care. In her later years, Frances maintained many friendships from those formed at the hospital as a member of the Union Hospital Retirees. She also delighted in spending time with her family. Together with her husband, the late Richard L. Bailey, whom Frances met while roller-skating at the Tuscora Park Roller Rink, Frances reared a family that includes two daughters; Joyce (Loren) Walter of Dover and Carolyn (John) Carpenter of Strasburg, and three sons, the late Larry Bailey, and his surviving wife, Doris Bailey of New Philadelphia, James (Sharline) Bailey of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Retired Lieutenant Colonial Keith (Melody) Bailey of Spartanburg, North Carolina. She’ll be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jan (Lisa) Bailey of New Philadelphia, Doug (Diana) Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, Chad Bailey, Blake (Kim) Bailey, all of New Philadelphia, Jody (Chad) Schindler of Dover, Rebecca (Bill) Kelley of New Philadelphia, Todd (Melissa) Carpenter of Bay Village, Ohio, Tedd (Jodi) Carpenter of Las Casas, Tennessee, Holly (Scott) Mari of New Philadelphia, Nathaniel (Zanna) Bailey of Cologne, Germany, Matthew (Laura) Bailey of Harrellsville, North Carolina, Francie (Wayne) Geer of Canton, Ohio, Sandra (John) Shott of New Philadelphia, Charles (Jen) Walter of Dover, Jill (Scott) Brisken of Spartanburg, North Carolina, Stacy (Zach) Whalen of Gainesville, Florida, Megan Bailey of Baltimore, Maryland.Her family also includes thirty-three great-grandchildren; Lindsay, Zachary, Kelsey, Dane, Pilar, Doug, Jordan, Bryce, Kyle, Tyler, Bailey, Carson, Tejae (wife Aisha) Thomas, Abigail, Joshua, Nicholas, Tyler, Spencer, Anthony, Sydney, Caitlin, Kyle, Chloe, Claire, Ski, Gabrielle, Zayden, Maddox, Anika, Ethan, Caleb and Andrew Carpenter, who died in infancy. Three great-great-grandchildren; Caden, Bryce, Braelyn, A sister; Hazel Kaiser of West Lafayette, brothers; Warren (Emily) Rummell of New Philadelphia, the late Roger Rummell, Carl (wife Frances) Rummell of Newcomerstown, the late Dean Rummell, and two sisters-in-law, Mabel Rummell of Gnadenhutten, and Donna Rummell of Newcomerstown, complete the family. Friends are invited to call Sunday (TONIGHT) from 6PM-9PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.Pastor John Gibson will lead the Bailey Funeral Monday afternoon at 2PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
