Frances Lucile Norman, 89, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, February 8, 2010 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following a short illnessA daughter of the late Lawrence and Audra (Mallernee) Rose, Frances was born February 11, 1920 in Tippecanoe, Ohio.Frances retired from Art’s Jewelers in 1985 and was also employed over the years at the Diamond Shoppe and at Montgomery Ward as a sales clerk.She was a member of First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia as well as a member of the New Philadelphia Lady Elks Lodge #510.Frances enjoyed tending to her floral gardens but especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren even when it involved a game of kickball.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jim Burns of Dover; two grandchildren, Richard (Tricia) Norman Jr. of Tucson, Arizona and Michele (Mike) Giffen of Gnadenhutten; two great grandchildren, Macy and Mitchell Giffen and a sister, Helen Cummings of Dennison.Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth P. Norman who passed away in July 2006 and her son, Richard Kenneth Norman Sr. in November 1995.The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Frances’ life will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Dr. Rev. Steven Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
