Frances Louise Frenzel, age 92, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, July 10, 2009, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Joseph and Magdalena (Kobek) Ruzek, Franny, as she was known to her friends and family, was born at Dillonvale, Ohio on March 3, 1917.On an outing with her sisters, Franny met and fell in love with Joseph William Frenzel and on September 7, 1939, the couple were married and would spend more than sixty years together until Joe’s passing in February of 2000. Together the couple would rear four children.Franny’s primary joy was that of being a mother and wife, spending time with her children and taking them on adventures. Whether it was a trip to Dallas, Texas for Christmas with her family or an adventure to Las Vegas for some time at the blackjack tables, Franny was up for the fun. Even a week ago she had spent a number of days on an outing visiting with her children and spending time in the area in which she had grown up. Franny will be remembered for a wide variety of talents. One such talent was that of cooking. She had become well known in numerous parts of the country for her peanut brittle which she often gave as gifts during the Christmas Season.Many characteristics made up Franny Frenzel, she was a lady with an outgoing personality. She was kind and generous and gave of herself to anyone in need. Franny loved everyone that she came in contact with and befriended many within a few moments of engaging in a conversation. She looked at people for who they really were and accepted them for their ability to be real around her. She instilled the importance of such characteristics in her family and taught them the importance of being genuine as well. Others knew Franny through their many evenings of playing cards together. She was well known as an avid player of Jass, Euchre, and Poker and would often spend several nights a week with friends and family deeply involved in a game of cards and socializing.She will be deeply missed by her family which she cared for so much, two daughters, Delores McIntosh of New Philadelphia, Bonnie Frenzel of Columbus and a son, John (Laura) Frenzel of Dallas, Texas.Six grandchildren, Joseph W. (Lisa) Frenzel, III, Michael (Paige) Frenzel, Robert Frenzel, Christine Frenzel, Jere Frenzel, and Sara Frenzel; a great-grandson, Joseph W. “Jake” Frenzel IV; twin great-granddaughters, Holly Frenzel and Noel Frenzel as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family friends, her “adopted children”, complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Franny was preceded in death by a son, Joseph W. Frenzel, II; three sisters, and five brothers.The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 14, 2009, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Mr. Dennis Trimmer, Sr. will lead a service celebrating Franny’s life on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial along side her husband will take place in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services an open house reception will be held at the family home.
