Frances Amelia Bible

Frances “Fran” Amelia Bible, age 89, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully early Saturday afternoon, New Years Day, in the company of her family. Born at Coshocton on August 13, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Phoebe Ann Schwab Clark. A 1939 graduate of Coshocton High School, Fran, as she was best known to her family and friends, married Glenn A. Bible, on July 19, 1941.The following year, Glenn accepted what was to be a short-term transfer within the Ohio Power Company from his office at Coshocton to New Philadelphia. The newlyweds loved the community and would spend their entire sixty-nine years of marriage at New Philadelphia. They were members of New Philadelphia’s First United Methodist Church for more than fifty years. Fran loved and supported her family in all of their endeavors. She was a life member of the New Philadelphia Lady Elks, and always found time to support the activities of the organization. Additionally, Fran was an excellent seamstress, whose gifts of pillows, blankets, dolls and other items will long be cherished by family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, entertaining from her home and cooking for those who came to visit. During their marriage, Fran and Glenn enjoyed spending time as a couple biking, swimming, and ballroom dancing. On October 25, of this past year, Glenn passed away in the comfort of their family home. Now, nine short weeks later, Fran and Glenn are re-united for eternity.They are proud parents of two children, Richard “Dick” (wife, Pat) Bible of New Philadelphia and Cheryl (husband, Randy) Simers of Bolivar.Five grandchildren, Jenny (husband, Paul) Bantum, Todd Bible, Heather (husband, Adam) Steinmetz, G.A. (wife, Ellie) Wentz, and Darin Wentz and six great-grandchildren also survive.In addition to her parents and husband, Fran is preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.Friends are invited to call Sunday, January 9, 2011, from 12:30 to 1:30PM in First United Methodist Church, 201 West High Avenue where the Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey will lead Fran’s Memorial Service at 1:30PM. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website. Cremation is planned, with interment to follow in Coshocton’s South Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in Fran’s name may be directed to Community Hospice, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622, The First United Methodist Church, 201 West High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
