Forrest W. Brown, 90, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully into the arms of His Lord, in Park Village Assisted Living Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Born in Tully, New York, he was the son of the late Walter W. and Margretta (Mesic) Brown. After completing his formal education at Tully High School in 1945, he married his loving wife, the former Barbara A. Kall. They enjoyed more than 56 years of love, life, and laughter prior to her passing in 2001. Together, they nurtured and cared for their children, Ross and Linda.
Forrest was a devoted member of Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia where his faith and friendships were nurtured. He was an active member of the Tuesday morning Men’s Fellowship. He was also a Past Master at the Tully Lodge #896 F & A.M. and was a charter member of the Otisco Volunteer Fire Department in Otisco, New York.
His professional career began as a farmer, and concluded as a successful businessman.
In 2002, Forrest married Lois Brown and together, they enjoyed one another’s companionship for the past 14 years.
In addition to his wife, Lois, Forrest will be deeply missed by his family including his children, Linda (Jon) Martin of Eagle Bay, New York, and Ross (Sharon) Brown of Dover; six grandchildren, Howard (Gina) Klein Martin, Kristen (Kris) Mariaca, Melissa (Tom) Smith, Steven Brown, Sarah (John) Domaschko and Rebecca (Steve) Laity; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Vecchio; his sister-in-law, Marion Brown; his brother-in-law, Gary (Chris) Kall; Lois’ children, Linda (Rob) and Bruce (Diane) and their families.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; his brother, Richard Brown; his great-granddaughter, Amelia Laity; and Lois’ daughter, Nikki.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating Forrest’s life will be held in Broadway United Methodist Church Friday beginning at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service with Rev. Mick Foster officiating. A meal will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
