Forrest “Dale” Ross

Forrest “Dale” Ross, age 83, of Strasburg passed away peacefully in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar on January 27, 2018, following a short illness.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia on January 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Henry and Leatha Ross. Following his formal education, Dale served his country in the United States Army.
He married the love of his life, the former Phyllis McElhaney, on February 4, 1956 in Akron. He was employed by the Timken Company in Canton for 41 years as a machine operator. He was a member of the Tuscarawas Valley Pioneer Power Association for more than 40 years.
Dale greatly enjoyed woodworking and going to car shows with his 1947 Willys Jeep. He could also be found in the mornings at Hardees in Strasburg, where he enjoyed coffee with friends.
In addition to Phyllis, Dale is survived by his family including Robert Ross of Muncie, Indiana, Richard (Carla) Ross of Strasburg, and Beverly (Jim) Mike of East Sparta; his grandchildren, Corey, Courtney, Kyle; a great-granddaughter, Laiken; and his sibling, Earl, Virginia, Leatha, Doris, and Deloris.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Arlene; his brother, Harold; and his grandson, Kody Ross.
In lieu of flowers, Dale’s family requests memorial contributions be sent to a children’s or veteran’s charity of the donor’s choice.
The Ross family is very grateful to the staff at Hennis Care Center in Bolivar for their support and care of Dale.
