Floyd Victor Ruffini, age 93, of New Philadelphia died peacefully late Sunday morning, September 3, 2006 in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center following an eleven week illness.Born at Roswell, November 5, 1912, Floyd was a son of the late Silvio “Charles” and Adella Gasparetti Ruffini. A veteran of World War II, Floyd enlisted in the Army in 1943 Â? was part of the D-Day invasion of Normandy Â? and was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Good Conduct Metal, and the World War II Victory Medal with two Bronze Stars. Floyd returned to the Tuscarawas Valley following the war and began a career with the former H. K. Porter Clay Pipe Plant at Uhrichsville. Forty-six years later, he transferred to the U.S. Concrete Pipe Company at Uhrichsville, the plant from which he would retire after five years of service. Floyd was a member of the Dennison Eagles Club # 582, and a former member of Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. For many years, Floyd enjoyed hunting and berry picking. One day before his death, Floyd and his wife, the former Maxine C. Frye, observed a landmark fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Ruffini survives, and resides at New Philadelphia. Floyd’s family also includes a daughter, Marla K. (husband Michael) Gambs of New Philadelphia, a step-son, Larry (Sue) Bricker of Deltona, Florida, a sister, Mrs. Florence Berni of Dennison, two brothers, Joe Ruffini of Uhrichsville, and William (wife Lillian) Ruffini of New Philadelphia. Three grandchildren, Shanan (husband Brian) Steed of Uhrichsville, Autum Steinbach of New Philadelphia, and Shawna Bricker of Deltona, Florida, and five great-grandchildren complete the family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ruffini was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Rosa, and three brothers, Lawrence, John and Louie Ruffini. Pastor David Wing of the Dover Foursquare Gospel Church will lead services with Brother Larry A. Bricker participating Wednesday afternoon at 2:30PM in the Chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where friends are invited to call one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
