Floyd Martin Stein, age 92, of Hennis Care Center at Dover died Thursday, March 21, 2013 following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Philip and Hazel (Becker) Stein, Floyd was born at Dover Township on December 12, 1920.
Floyd began his working career with the former Reeves Steel at Dover and ultimately retired from Empire Detroit Steel following more than 40 years of service. He enjoyed tending to his small farm often making hay and planting and selling tomatoes during summer months.
He was also actively involved with the Salvation Army Citadel of Dover and New Philadelphia, and frequently took supplies to shut-ins and those who were in need.
Floyd is survived by his wife, the former Jane Jones of Dover; a son, Scott (Susan) Stein; and a grandson, Shawn Stein all of Utah; two step-daughters, Kimberly Wood and Pam Arras, and a sister-in-law, Florence Stein of Dover.
An extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins that include: Steve (Paula) Stein of Dover, Dale (Janice) Crone of Dover, Joyce Fry of Keene, Ohio, Rick (Joy) Crone of Columbia, Amanda Stein of Dover and Kelly and Justin Crone of Columbia also survive.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his twin brother, Lloyd Stein and a sister, Violet Crone.
Private services led by Lt. Scott Duperree will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with burial to follow in the Dover Burial Park.
In gratitude for their attentive care over the past years, Floyd’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hennis Care Center at Dover.
