Floyd L. Emig

Floyd L. Emig, 93, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Union Hospital in Dover following a brief illness. Born December 8, 1909, in York Township, he was the son of the late John and Sarah Anna Mutti Emig. Floyd worked as a Coal Miner and a Farmer. He was a member of the York Township Fire Department, Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia, AARP, Retired Postal Employees, Senior Citizens of Tuscarawas County.Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Alma Struchen Emig, of the home, whom he married December 1, 1945; daughter, Betty (Donald) Ridgway of Gnadenhutten; son, John (Vicki) Emig of Kent; Grandchildren, Brenda Parrish of Gnadenhutten, Barbara (Michael) Watson of Fresno, Tiffani Emig of Kent, Aaron Emig of Kenyon College; great grandson, Jason (Brenda) Parrish of Uhrichsville; and great-great grandson, Braxtan Parrish.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Ida Hawk, Gertrude Beaber, Alverda Zimmerman, Grace Rosenberry, Freda Zurcher, Nita Dummermuth; four brothers, Elmer, William, Virgil and Ralph Emig.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, at 10:30 AM at the Jerusalem Church, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Terry Downin officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a reception will be held in the Church Hall.
