Floyd Knight, 92, of New Philadelphia, passed to his eternal rest on Sunday, January 29, 2006 in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio.Born October 8, 1913 near Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Knight was one of seven children of Walter and Lillie (Porter) Knight.Mr. Knight, one of many long suffering Indians’ fans, was an avid gardener and continued to maintain his meticulous lawn.He served 20 years as a UMWA member with Hanna (Consolidated) Coal and 16 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was also a member of The First United Methodist in New Philadelphia for 42 years.He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Frances (Moore) Knight; son Russell (Nancy) Knight of Columbus, Ohio; daughter-in-law; Micki Stamps-Knight of Centerville, Ohio; brother, Claude Knight of Wadsworth, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Mr. Knight was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Knight; one grandson, Kenneth Charles “K.C.” Knight and three brothers and two sisters.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Dr. Rev. Steven Bailey will conduct services on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel. Following the service at the funeral home, a memorial luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will then take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Holly Memorial Gardens on U.S. Route 250 near Pleasant Grove in Belmont County.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 201 West High Avenue, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
