Floyd Emmett Wright, 82, of Gnadenhutten, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 inAffinity Medical Center at Massillon following a period of declining health. Ason of the late Harold and Anna (Tietz) Wright, Floyd was born September 7, 1928at Stratton, Ohio. Floyd graduated from Toronto High School in 1946. On June 4, 1949, Floydmarried the love of his life, the former Margaret Blaschak and together theyraised two sons, David and Christopher.He spent 40 years working in supervisory positions for clay tile manufacturers.He had worked for Empire Clay, Larson Clay, Peerless Clay all in the TorontoOhio area and retired as Plant Engineer in 1990 from Superior Clay atUhrichsville.Floyd was a member of Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison where heserved on the parish finance committee for several years. In addition he was aformer member of both the Newcomerstown Elks Lodge and the Toronto Knights of Columbus.Floyd was an accomplished wood worker and especially enjoyed making cabinetry.He was also a skilled electrician and made many electrical upgrades to his homeand those of family and friends always refusing payment for his services. Heloved decorating for Christmas and the outdoor displays he created included inexcess of ten thousand lights.Floyd was an avid collector of music recordings with his favorite type of musicbeing classic country from the 50’s and 60’s. He built his own stereo systemfrom components and enjoyed converting LP’S to cassettes so he could take hismusic with him when he traveled.Each year Floyd planted a large garden and in keeping with his givingpersonality would give most of the produce to neighbors, friends and family. Surviving is his wife of nearly 62 years, Margaret; his sons and their spouses, David (Linda) Wright of Gnadenhutten and Christopher (Lou Ann) Wright of Tustin.California; four grandchildren Steven and Amanda of Gnadenhutten, Raynelle ofNew York City and Ryan of Cincinnati; a brother Clayton (Clara) Wright ofCanton; cousins Dorothy Auw of Chicago and Jim Wright of Cleveland; a nephew Gerald (Betsy) Brown of New Castle, PA; and his nieces, Kathy Brown ofNew Castle, PA, Linda (Richard) Price of Whitesville, NC, Cheryl (Bill)Costner of Dublin, OH, and Debra (Richard) Pluta of Greenwich, CT. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Verna Brown and a niece Shirley Brown.In keeping with Floyd’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services andcremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas ValleyCrematory.
