Florence Jean Limbacher, age 78, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, early Thursday, October 20, 2016 surrounded by her family while in the care of Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
A daughter of the late James and Bertha (Reidl) Bird, Florence was born in her family’s New Philadelphia home on February 5, 1938.
She attended New Philadelphia High School and married the love of her life, Edwin D. Limbacher on September 19, 1954. Together the couple was blessed with four daughters.
Florence was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Church. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed traveling to Texas, and spending countless summers camping at Leesville Lake with her family. Florence was known for her knitting skills, having made thousands of slippers in her lifetime. She was also known for her baking and cooking skills. Her cookies were a favorite treat for the New Philadelphia Fire Department. Florence also found great joy in supporting her family, especially her grandchildren, in their various activities. Through the years, she babysat for countless families and loved caring for each child who visited her.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Florence is survived by four daughters, Nancy McNutt of New Lexington, Judy Tharp of Strasburg, Diana (Patrick) Gibson of New Philadelphia, and Sharon Beahm of Texas; her former son-in-law, Karl Beahm of Texas; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Libby Zurcher, Joanne Hogue, Barb Karl, and Sandy Beans as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Tharp; her sisters, Maxine Burkey, Margaret Betz, Annabelle Tedrick, and Dolores Miller; and a brother, Jim Bird.
A graveside service celebrating Florence’s life will be led by Todd MacMath on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 1:30 PM in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
