Florence Irene Smart

Florence Irene Smart, 75, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Schoenbrunn Health Care in New Philadelphia.A daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Gardner Welch, Florence was born in Tuscarawas County near Gilmore on March 1, 1930.She was a member of the Church of the Living God, in New Philadelphia and enjoyed camping with her family. Florence, will be remembered by her family as being a good cook.She is survived by her husband, Oscar C. Smart, whom she married on June 8, 1957; sons, Clyde (Sandy) Wright and Jim Wright,, both of Newcomerstown and Willis (Brenda) Wright, Tom (Jean) Smart and Walter (Sandy) Smart, all of New Philadelphia; daughters, Irene Kyle, of New Philadelphia and Susan Smart and Sally (Tim) Franklin, both of Murfreesboro, TN.; sisters, Mary Welch, and Bertha England, both of Newcomerstown; a brother, Charles Welch, of Newcomerstown; sister-in-laws, Gladys Slemmer, of New Philadelphia and Laura Tice, of Dover; a brother-in-laws, Donald Slemmer, of New Philadelphia and Glen England, of Newcomerstown; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.Florence was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Caroline (Ray) Varnes.Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, 2006, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by Pastor Bob Jones on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel.
