Florence B. Meek

Florence Meek, 79, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Union Hospital in Dover.A daughter of the late Forest and Gladys Edie Barnes, Florence was born in New Philadelphia, OH, on March 8, 1925. She graduated in l943 from New Philadelphia High School.On January 16, 1944, she married D. Earl Meek who preceded her in death in July, 1996.Florence was a homemaker and was employed as a department supervisor at both the W.T. Grant store in the former Miracle Lane Plaza in Dover and at the former T.G.& Y. also in Dover.Florence became a member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia when she was 10 years old. She later served as a Sunday School teacher and as a Deaconess for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and took great pride in her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She collected dolls, a variety of angels, and was a member of the former Tuscarawas County Antique Club.She is survived by her daughter, Linda R. Meek of Dublin, OH; sons, Richard (Sandy) Meek of Winfield, WV, Gary (Pam) Meek of Clayton, NC, Stephen (Cathy) Meek of Glendale, CA, and Chris (Sue) Meek of New Philadelphia; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Halloy and Phyllis (Jack) Levengood; brothers, Wayne (Edna) Barnes and Gene (Janet) Barnes; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Lucille Endres.Visitation will be Tuesday, October 19, 2004 from 6 Â? 8 pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by long-time family friend, Pastor Harry “Bud” Milligan on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 11 am in the Geib Chapel. Florence will be buried next to her husband at Dover Burial Park in Dover.
